What to expectWhat a Vein Doctor Visit Looks Like
Expect a conversation about your symptoms, a look at your legs, and often an ultrasound in FCCI's accredited vascular lab. Your doctor then follows up with a plan.
Before you go
- Call 904.493.3333 to book. New patients are welcome.
- Fill out the New Patient Registration form listed on FCCI's Patient Resources page.
- Check the Venous Doppler Ultrasound instructions if a test is planned.
- Bring your insurance card, ID and medication list.
- Need to change your time? FCCI asks for at least 24 hours' notice.

During the visit
Your provider asks about pain, swelling, skin changes and any past clots, then looks at your legs. FCCI describes a full assessment of your risk factors, signs and symptoms, beyond your vein health.
If an ultrasound is needed, a registered vascular technologist does it. FCCI's vein screening takes about 20 minutes. A full venous insufficiency study may include both legs and usually takes about an hour. A study for a suspected clot usually takes about 30 minutes.
After the visit
Your doctor reviews the test and follows up with a personalized plan. That may be watchful waiting, a procedure in the office setting, or a referral to another FCCI specialist if your veins are not the cause. FCCI does its vein services in an outpatient setting, which it says keeps costs low and visits convenient.
Some follow-ups can be a TeleVisit. FCCI sends a link by text, no app needed. Call 904.493.3333 to set one up.
How long is a first vein visit?
It depends on testing. The screening ultrasound is about 20 minutes; a full venous study is about an hour.
